Roses, Redwoods, and Rhododendrons

Two rose gardens show different sides of Portland's nickname. The International Rose Test Garden compares thousands of bushes on a Washington Park hillside. Peninsula Park surrounds formal beds with brick paths, a fountain, and a 1913 bandstand in a North Portland neighborhood.Hoyt Arboretum adds roughly 2,000 tree species and 12 miles of trails. Portland Japanese Garden uses gates, paths, stone, water, moss, architecture, and borrowed scenery across a steep hillside. Lan Su Chinese Garden compresses pavilions, a pond, plants, poetry, and scholar's rocks into one city block.Crystal Springs is strongest when rhododendrons, spring-fed ponds, bridges, old trees, and waterfowl are considered together. Leach Botanical Garden pairs an aerial tree walk with a historic house and a native-plant ravine along Johnson Creek. Admission, open days, accessible routes, parking, and bloom seasons differ by stop. The PopHops Pass does not include admission, tours, parking, food, reservations, event tickets, discounts, or partner benefits.
