Portland Japanese Garden
Portland Japanese Garden was founded in 1963 as a place for cultural exchange after World War II. Stone, moss, water, bridges, maples, carefully trained plants, tea-garden paths, and framed views change across the steep Washington Park hillside. The Cultural Village adds architecture, exhibitions, demonstrations, and Japanese arts.Admission is paid, and timed tickets can sell out. The hillside includes stairs and steep paths, while an accessible route reaches only part of the garden. Tuesday opens later than the rest of the week, and holidays, exhibitions, and special events can change access.
