Lan Su Chinese Garden
Lan Su Chinese Garden opened in 2000 through Portland's sister-city relationship with Suzhou. Artisans from Suzhou helped fit a Ming-style scholar's garden into one downtown block, using pavilions, covered walks, a pond, plants, poetry inscriptions, mosaic paths, and scholar's rocks.Windows and doorways frame different combinations of rock, water, architecture, and reflected light as visitors move around the compact site. Admission is paid, and the garden has a universal route. Last entry is before closing, seasonal hours change, and the small adjacent parking lot fills quickly.
