Locks, Gas Towers, Sculpture, and Old Growth

The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks raise and lower boats between salt water and Seattle's freshwater lakes, with a salmon ladder beside them. Discovery Park puts an active lighthouse, two miles of protected tidal beach, and Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center on land once occupied by Fort Lawton.Gas Works Park keeps the five-story cracking towers of a plant that supplied Seattle with manufactured gas until 1956. Olympic Sculpture Park uses a Z-shaped path to join outdoor art, native plantings, and restored shoreline. Washington Park Arboretum, Kubota Garden, and Seward Park add rare woody plants, Japanese American landscape design, waterfalls, bridges, and old-growth forest. These seven places sit across Ballard, Magnolia, Lake Union, Elliott Bay, the Arboretum, Rainier Beach, and Lake Washington. Most are free, but parking is limited or paid at several stops, the Seattle Japanese Garden charges separately, and the Discovery Park beach lot is ADA-only. The PopHops Pass does not include parking, transportation, admission, tours, reservations, discounts, or partner benefits.
