Discovery Park

Discovery Park covers 560 acres of former Fort Lawton land on Magnolia Bluff. Its meadows, forests, sea cliffs, dunes, streams, two miles of protected tidal beach, and 1881 West Point Lighthouse make it Seattle's largest park.More than 100 Native activists and supporters occupied parts of Fort Lawton in 1970. The negotiations that followed secured land for Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center, which opened in 1977. The park visitor center is closed until summer 2027. Three lots serve general parking, while the beach lot is ADA-only and the seasonal shuttle ends September 5, 2026.
