Mill City Museum
Mill City Museum occupies the ruins of Washburn A Mill. A flour-dust explosion destroyed the original mill and killed 18 workers in 1878. The rebuilt complex later closed, stood empty, and burned again in 1991 before the Minnesota Historical Society opened the museum inside the surviving walls. The Flour Tower, Water Lab, baking demonstrations, machinery, worker accounts, and rooftop views connect wheat, railroads, labor, advertising, engineering, and river power. Admission is paid, and the museum currently opens Thursday through Sunday. Holiday hours and limited-capacity experiences can change access.
