Contemporary Arts Center (CAC)
Three Cincinnati women founded the Modern Art Society in 1939 with a portable typewriter and borrowed rooms. It became the Contemporary Arts Center, a non-collecting institution whose galleries are rebuilt around each new exhibition.Zaha Hadid designed the current building, which opened in 2003 as her first American project and the first American museum building designed by a woman. Admission is paid for most adults, while several groups qualify for free entry. Gallery floors can close between exhibitions, and the museum closes Monday and Tuesday.
