Caw Caw Interpretive Center

Caw Caw preserves land divided into rice plantations, where enslaved Africans and African Americans used agricultural knowledge to build and operate fields, dikes, trunks, and canals. The site is also connected to the 1739 Stono Rebellion and belongs to the National Park Service's Network to Freedom. The former rice landscape now supports birds, wetlands, wildlife habitat, and migration research. Monday is normally closed, and the exhibit center is currently under renovation. Trails are unpaved and exposed to heat, wildlife, rain, and high-water closures. Dogs and bicycles are not allowed.
