Tucson Museum Of Art
Let the museum block argue with the museum walls. The institution began in 1924 when the Tucson Woman's Club formed the Tucson Fine Arts Association. It now stewards nearly 12,000 works across more than 3,000 years and an entire downtown block that includes five historic properties. Several buildings survived the urban-renewal era, so preservation, collection building, and the people once housed along Main Avenue become parts of the same civic story.Start in the galleries, then visit the History Room and step outside to read the block itself. Exhibitions rotate, and admission is paid directly to the museum. The fully accessible entrance is 200 W Alameda Street, not the Museum Store entrance at 140 N Main; an alternate route serves the Art Education Center while its elevator is out, and historic flagstone near Casa Cordova is uneven.
