Domino Park
At Domino Park, the refinery is gone but the machinery of sugar still shapes the walk. Start on River Street and rise onto the elevated path, then look for salvaged columns, wood, and the enormous syrup tanks set into the landscape. From the viewing steps, the East River and Manhattan pull one way while the landmark refinery building and industrial artifacts pull the other. The park’s best view is the tension between them. This five-acre public park opened in June 2018 on the former Domino Sugar Refinery site. Its design does not treat industry as a decorative theme: reclaimed materials are built into the park, the Pier Reveal opens light and air to the river below, and the raised waterfront edge is part of a larger resiliency strategy above the 100-year floodplain. Walk the artifacts as evidence of labor, infrastructure, and a Williamsburg shoreline still being rewritten. Domino Park is open daily 6 AM–11 PM. Historical artifacts and structures are not climbable, plant beds are off limits, and amplified sound, alcohol outside Tacocina, smoking, flames, and unpermitted commercial activity are prohibited. Water features, events, and facilities may be seasonal. Follow posted rules and keep the elevated walk moving when crowded. No food, skating, event admission, reserved seating, or partner benefit is included.
