Utah State Capitol

Utah's Capitol was built from 1912 to 1916 after inheritance taxes from railroad president E. H. Harriman helped resolve a long funding problem. The building still contains active House and Senate chambers, state offices, a ceremonial Supreme Court chamber, a marble rotunda, and public art added across more than a century. The grounds include a tree-lined memorial loop with monuments, plaques, and views over the city. Self-guided access is available during building hours, and free guided tours run on weekdays when docents are available. Government business, holidays, security, events, and demonstrations can change room access.
