Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden
Grace Arents bought this property in 1913 and left it to Richmond in 1926 as a public botanical garden honoring her uncle Lewis Ginter. Life rights, unrealized city plans, and a lawsuit delayed the idea until the garden was chartered in 1984.A 2026 expansion added native meadows, a four-acre Wick Lake, a larger conservatory, and year-round butterflies. Daytime admission is paid, and a timed butterfly reservation is recommended even though it is included. Concerts, private events, weather, and seasonal programs can change normal access.
