The Poe Museum
Edgar Allan Poe never lived in these rooms. Founded in 1922, the museum built a Richmond home for his memory around the Old Stone House, historic architectural fragments, manuscripts, a childhood bed, a pocket watch, a coffin fragment, and an Enchanted Garden based on a poem.Admission is paid, with last entry at 4:30 p.m. An audio tour works on a personal phone, while docent tours depend on availability. Brick, gravel, irregular stone, raised thresholds, and a staircase complicate access, though staff can provide portable ramps at the accessible Main Street gate.
