North Carolina State Capitol
North Carolina State Capitol opened in 1840 and once held the governor, Supreme Court, General Assembly, and other state offices under one Greek Revival roof. Restored chambers and the rotunda show how 19th-century government arranged its public rooms.Admission and self-guided visits are free Monday through Saturday. Free guided tours run at selected times Saturday. The building closes Sunday and state holidays, while government activity, grounds repairs, and temporary routing can affect access.
