The John Brown House Museum

Merchant John Brown's house preserves 18th-century furniture, maps, silver, mahogany, porcelain, cloth, and architecture. Brown was both an American patriot and a participant in the China trade and slave trade, and the museum connects the mansion's wealth with slavery, household labor, and Atlantic commerce.Adult admission is paid, with narrower hours in winter. Visitors enter through the rear courtyard, and free parking is reached from Charlesfield Street. Only the first floor is wheelchair accessible; upper floors require stairs, and the restrooms are not wheelchair accessible.
