Rhode Island State House
McKim, Mead & White designed the Rhode Island State House, built from 1895 to 1904 in Georgia marble. Executive offices, legislative chambers, the State Library, public exhibits, and active government share the building beneath one of the world's largest self-supported marble domes.Admission and weekday public tours are free. The building closes weekends and holidays, and visitors enter on Smith Street through security. Legislative business, official events, and security conditions can alter access to individual rooms.
