A Market, a Prison, Rodin, and a Mosaic Garden
The Assembly Room at Independence Hall held the signing of both the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. A few blocks away, Reading Terminal Market packs more than 80 merchants beneath the former Reading Railroad train shed. Eastern State Penitentiary replaces food counters with vaulted cellblocks arranged around a central surveillance hub.The Parkway adds two compact museums with very different collections. The Rodin Museum displays works including The Thinker and The Gates of Hell in a 1929 building and garden. The Mütter Museum uses biological specimens, medical instruments, rare books, and archives to cover medicine and public health. Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens finishes the set with 3,000 square feet of tiled tunnels, grottos, mirrors, bottles, and bicycle wheels. The six stops sit in three useful clusters: Independence Hall and Reading Terminal Market, Eastern State and the Parkway museums, and South Street. Independence Hall is free but uses timed tickets for most daytime tours. The other museums charge admission, and Magic Gardens tickets frequently sell out. The PopHops Pass does not include tickets, reservations, food, discounts, or partner benefits.
