Harry P Leu Gardens
Let one enormous live oak slow the city down. The land's documented estate history moves through multiple families, agricultural and citrus uses, household expansion, and plant collecting. Harry and Mary Jane Leu bought the property in 1936, built its tropical and subtropical collections, and gave the 50-acre estate to Orlando in 1961 for public enjoyment and horticultural education. Today more than 40 plant collections surround a house built and enlarged across several eras.Access and seasonal truth: Through September 7, 2026, the gardens are open daily 09:00–18:00 and Thursday until 20:00, with last entry one hour before closing. Hours contract after September 7 and again after November 18; close Thanksgiving and Christmas. General admission is charged, access to garden areas can change for events, and free parking is onsite. Most paths are paved, wheelchairs are available first-come, and accessible facilities are documented; the Historic Leu House is a shorter Tuesday–Sunday 10:00–13:00 experience with stairs and is not fully wheelchair or stroller accessible.
