Lake Eola Park
Circle the lake Orlando chose as its civic mirror. The Summerlin family gave a strip of land around the lake for public use in 1883, and Lake Eola became a city park in 1888. Swans arrived in 1922. The current tiered fountain was built in 1957 and renamed for Linton E. Allen in 1966, giving a growing downtown an image it could recognize from almost any angle. The 0.9-mile loop keeps that history in motion among gardens, performances, play, and ordinary daily use.Access and safety truth: The park is open daily 06:00–23:59 and the loop is paved; the City lists disabled access, restrooms, on-street parking, and nearby restaurants. Major events can crowd paths or change access. Feeding wildlife is prohibited. Swan boats are a separate paid activity currently operating Tuesday–Sunday 10:00–19:00 and closed Monday; the Hop promises neither a boat nor an event, concert, market, or fountain-lighting time.
