Bemis Center For Contemporary Arts

Bemis began in 1981 as Alternative Worksite, an Artist-in-Industry program founded by Jun Kaneko, Tony Hepburn, Lorne Falk, and Ree Schonlau. It grew into a residency program that turned the former Bemis Bag Warehouse into studios, galleries, and working space for artists.Exhibitions and public programs are free. Bemis closes Monday and Tuesday and stays open until 9 p.m. Thursday. Tours follow the events calendar, while parking is split between metered spaces, limited street spaces, and nearby garages.
