The Durham Museum
Omaha Union Station opened in 1931 with a 60-foot-high Great Hall, huge chandeliers, blue and black Belgian marble, and as many as 64 passenger trains a day. The last passenger train left in 1971, and volunteers reopened the donated building as a museum in 1975.The ticketed museum includes the restored Great Hall, a soda fountain, passenger cars, Omaha history galleries, and changing exhibitions. It closes Monday and opens at noon Sunday. Advance reservations are encouraged, and major holidays alter the schedule.
