Maple Leaf Bar

The Maple Leaf opened on February 24, 1974. Andrew Hall's Society Jazz Band played the first night and returned every Saturday for seven years. The Oak Street room later became a regular home for jazz, funk, R&B, blues, rock, zydeco, jam bands, and combinations that do not fit one label. The bar also hosts a long-running Sunday poetry reading, serves as a gathering place for the Krewe of OAK, and has helped newer bands grow from the city's music schools and local scenes. Live performances run seven nights a week, but the lineup, ticket or cover terms, and age policy depend on the current event.
