Wisconsin Veterans Museum
Wisconsin Civil War veterans helped create the memorial collection that became this museum. A 1901 law established a G.A.R. Memorial Hall and protected the state's Civil War flags; today's collection includes objects, letters, photographs, and more than 2,800 oral-history interviews.Admission is free. The museum closes Monday, and its Sunday hours run only from April through September. Exhibits include personal accounts of combat, injury, and loss, while parking on Capitol Square is limited.
