Hollyhock House
Hollyhock House rises from Barnsdall Art Park as a sequence of terraces, courts, and thick walls rather than a conventional front-facing house. Aline Barnsdall commissioned Frank Lloyd Wright to make a home and arts complex here, and the abstract hollyhock motif repeats from concrete ornament to furniture, tying the building to her favorite flower. Move slowly through the thresholds: the house’s real lesson is how rooms, garden, and the Los Angeles climate are made to share one composition.Current 2026 visits are ticketed, with self-guided admission Thursday through Saturday and guided Sunday tours; advance purchase is recommended and closure dates vary. Check the official calendar before crossing the city, arrive through the Visitors Center, and follow current photography and accessibility guidance. Barnsdall Art Park is public, but entry to the house is not included by this free Pass; there is no Drop or guaranteed standby admission.
