Springs Preserve
Las Vegas has a birthplace. The springs here drew Indigenous communities, travelers, ranchers, and eventually the railroad; the water company and 1905 land auction helped turn a desert stopping place into a town.Today the 180-acre Preserve keeps that history in one landscape: archaeological sites, museums, desert habitats, botanical gardens, and water-smart architecture. Walk the trails to see how the city’s origin story and its future stewardship meet at the same source. The Preserve is currently open Thursday through Monday, 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., with last entry at 3:00 p.m. Admission is ticketed and cashless; outdoor trails and rides may close early during extreme heat. General admission does not include every special event. Recheck current operations, and note that pets other than service animals are not admitted.
