The Water That Shapes the Valley
The desert keeps a water memory. This collection traces Las Vegas from a spring-fed creek and ranch ponds to ancient wetland sediments, a refuge oasis, a working wash, and bird habitat created through water reuse. The seven Hops are deliberately different: settlement, sustainability, ranch history, deep time, wildlife refuge, watershed engineering, and urban ecology. Visit them across several mornings or cool-season days; they are spread across the valley and should not be treated as a one-day challenge.Bring water even when water is the subject. Recheck hours, heat and fire alerts, trail and road conditions, holiday closures, admission, and seasonal access. Each place stands on its own; no partnership, special access, reward, or purchase is included.
