Owens-Thomas House & Slave Quarters

William Jay designed the Owens-Thomas House, completed in 1819. The same complex includes the mansion, carriage house, garden, and slave quarters, and the museum interprets the powerful residents alongside the enslaved people who built, maintained, and lived within the property.Timed tours move through both decorative rooms and work spaces, making the contrast between them visible. Admission is paid, Monday is closed, and the final tour begins before the museum closes. Original stairs remain throughout the house, and there is no elevator.
