Ships Of The Sea Maritime Museum

Architect William Jay designed the Scarbrough House in 1819 for shipping merchant William Scarbrough, a principal owner of the steamship Savannah. The mansion later served as West Broad Street School for Black children, stood empty for years, and reopened as a maritime museum after major preservation work.Ship models, paintings, and maritime objects connect the house to Savannah's port and ocean trade. Admission is paid, and last entry is before closing. A lift serves the main floor, but the second floor and basement require stairs. The gardens are part of the museum grounds.
