The Museum of Kansas City
A private mansion has learned to speak in the plural. Corinthian Hall was built in 1910 as the home of lumber magnate R. A. Long and his family, then entered public life as a museum in 1940. Its restoration preserves the scale and detail of the house while asking a broader question: whose labor, ambition, contradictions, and memories made Kansas City?Move past the first impression of grandeur. Rooms now hold exhibitions, objects, and contemporary interventions that examine the Long family alongside the city beyond the estate. Downstairs, a revived soda fountain and billiard room return informal gathering to a house once organized by status and privacy.General admission to Corinthian Hall is free. Current hours are Thursday 10 a.m.–8 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m.–5 p.m., and Sunday noon–5 p.m. Corinthian Hall is the only campus building currently open; other structures remain under restoration. An accessible parking entrance with ramp and lift is at the west gate on Norledge Avenue.
