Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park
Finish where the current gives way to surf. Hanna Park gathers a sixty-acre freshwater lake, maritime forest, protected dunes, more than twenty miles of trails, and a mile and a half of Atlantic beach into one city park. The boardwalk is the transition to remember. Behind it, the park holds quiet lake water and shaded habitat; ahead, wind and salt rearrange the scale of the trip. Use only established dune crossings—the dunes are protective infrastructure and living habitat, not a shortcut to the sand. The park charges entry and closes on a seasonal clock. From 06:00 to 08:00, entry is limited to pre-purchased early-bird or annual passes; this schedule uses ordinary public hours. Accessible parking, routes, and an adaptive kayak launch exist, but sand and trail surfaces are not universally accessible. There is no swimming in the lake, alligators are possible, and the seasonal splash pad has no lifeguard and closes for nearby lightning.
