Grand Rapids Public Library

Grand Rapids Public Library opened the Ryerson Building in 1904 with Bedford limestone, Carrara marble, and formal public rooms. A 1969 addition answered a different era, and a 2003 restoration joined the two buildings into one five-level main library. No library card is needed to visit. The Grand Rapids History Center is on Level 4, and public elevators serve the building. The library closes Sunday; validated parking is free for two hours on weekdays and all day Saturday, while holiday closures and early closings follow the live calendar.
