Fort Worth Water Gardens

Finish where the city makes water perform.Dedicated in 1974 as a gift from the Amon G. Carter Foundation, the 5.4-acre Water Gardens use several water systems to create different physical moods. The Wet Wall and Quiet Pool slow attention; forty nozzles aerate water near ground level; the Active Pool drops rushing water toward a basin 38 feet below; and the Mountain raises hardscape 20 feet above the central square. Altogether, the park circulates about 19,000 gallons per minute.Listen from the upper edge before deciding whether to descend. The Active Pool's table-topped stairs bring visitors close to force and sound, but the park also offers calmer ways to understand the design. Admission is free, special lighting changes the space after dark, and the canonical check-in remains the Water Gardens. Swimming and wading are prohibited everywhere; wet surfaces can be slippery, children require close supervision, and the Active Pool descent is not a mobility-accessible route. Construction status is volatile through the 2027 improvement project.
