Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth
Cross the lawn and let the present tense in.Twenty-five women established the institution in 1892 as the Fort Worth Public Library and Art Gallery, making today's Modern the oldest museum in Texas. Its mission and names changed as the city changed. Since 2002, art from the 1940s to the present has occupied Tadao Ando's concrete, glass, and steel building, where five pavilions face a reflecting pond and immense Y-shaped columns hold roofs designed to diffuse natural light.Compare Ando's weight and reflection with Kahn's vaults across the street, then let the art complicate the architecture's calm. Current admission covers collection and special exhibitions; Fridays are free and Sundays half price. Films, talks, public tours, and Café Modern follow their own schedules. The galleries are scheduled to close September 29–October 30, 2026 while lobby programs, films, shop, and café continue; do not promote this Hop for that interval without a prominent warning.
