The resulting collection covers about 93 percent of everything he made: approximately 843 paintings, more than 2,300 works on paper, several sculptures, and an archive of letters, sketchbooks, manuscripts, photographs, and personal effects.That concentration lets the museum show a full career rather than a handful of famous canvases.
