Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum
Step into a courthouse that has learned to question its own record. The 1903 El Paso County Courthouse still brings the authority of a civic monument, but the museum inside now asks whose lives built the Pikes Peak region and whose stories were left outside the archive. The collecting institution dates to 1896 and moved into this building in 1979. A current permanent exhibition, Until Forever Comes: This is Ute Homeland, was developed after five years of consultation with Tribal historians, Ute elders, and representatives of three Ute tribes; it centers living culture rather than treating Native presence as a prologue to settlement.Admission is free and walk-ins are welcome Tuesday through Saturday. A ramp entrance is on the south side, with a doorbell for staff assistance; elevators reach all floors, limited wheelchairs are available, and a hearing LOOP serves two galleries. The museum observes city holidays, including a listed closure on Veterans Day and Thanksgiving dates later in 2026.
