Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center
Start with rock standing on edge. From the Visitor & Nature Center, the Garden's sedimentary layers read like pages forced upright—evidence of ancient mountains, inland seas, burial, uplift, and erosion across hundreds of millions of years. The building makes that scale legible before the trail. Exhibits connect geology, plants, animals, and human history; across the road, the public park remains free under the condition attached to its 1909 deed to Colorado Springs. Use the center to choose a paved or unpaved route rather than treating every formation as climbable scenery.Current summer center hours are 09:00–18:00, while the park itself is open 05:00–22:00 through October. The center is ADA-compliant, accessible parking and paved park routes are documented, and wheelchairs are first come, first served. Stay on marked trails, protect fragile soil, and remember that technical rock climbing requires a permit.
