Sunset Cliffs Natural Park

Sunset Cliffs Natural Park follows 68 acres of Point Loma coastline, with sandstone bluffs, arches, sea caves, and broad Pacific views. The park was dedicated in 1983, and its southern section connects with the 640-acre Point Loma Ecological Reserve. California gray whales can sometimes be seen offshore during migration. The sandstone edge is unstable, and surf can reach informal routes below the bluffs. Signed overlooks and established paths provide the legal viewing areas. Ladera Street, Luscomb Point, and Osprey Street have small lots or street parking but no restrooms. The Ladera lot closes from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.; other Sunset Cliffs lots close from 2 to 4 a.m.
