Edgar Allan Poe House & Museum

Edgar Allan Poe lived in this 620-square-foot rowhouse from 1833 to 1835 with his aunt Maria Clemm and her daughter Virginia, whom he later married. He wrote early poems and stories here while beginning the publishing life that made him famous.Advance reservations are required for a specific hour, and only a few people enter at once. The house has steep narrow stairs, no public restroom, limited street parking, and no wheelchair access. Summer and winter open days differ, so the ticket calendar is the most reliable schedule.
