The Atlanta Beltline Eastside Trail
Atlanta’s most famous path began as leftover infrastructure. The Eastside Trail follows an old rail corridor and became the first finished section of the Atlanta BeltLine, linking Piedmont Park to Reynoldstown while stitching together neighborhoods, parks, public art, restaurants, and former industrial sites along the way.The trail is best understood in motion. Walk or ride slowly enough to notice the city changing block by block: murals arrive at eye level, bridges reveal long views, old loading docks become gathering places, and side paths open into Fourth Ward Park and Ponce City Market. What once divided or bypassed neighborhoods now carries a constant stream of everyday public life. The paved trail is free and generally available 6:00 AM–11:00 PM. It is shared by walkers, runners, bicycles, strollers, wheelchairs, and scooters; stay right, pass carefully, and expect heavy use at peak times. Construction, events, and filming can create temporary closures or detours.
