Ponce City Market
This immense brick building has already lived several Atlanta lives. The site moved from springs and an amusement park to baseball, then became a Sears complex in 1925. The city purchased it in 1991 and called it City Hall East; after Jamestown acquired the property in 2010, restoration began in 2011 and the market’s new public life unfolded through 2014 and 2015.Walk the central hall with that timeline in mind. Old industrial scale meets new apartments, offices, shops, and food counters, while the BeltLine and Fourth Ward Park keep the building connected to the city outside. The adaptive reuse is not a museum display—it is the architecture doing another job in real time.Entry to the public market and food hall is free; food, retail purchases, parking, events, and rooftop attractions cost extra. Retail hours are generally Monday–Saturday 10:00 AM–9:00 PM and Sunday 11:00 AM–6:00 PM; Food Hall hours generally extend to 10:00 PM. Individual tenants and holidays vary.
