Indiana Medical History Museum
Indiana Medical History Museum occupies the former pathology building at Central State Hospital. Laboratories, medical equipment, specimens, and an autopsy amphitheater show how psychiatry and medicine adopted new methods while raising difficult questions about patients, consent, and human remains.Visits require a reserved one-hour guided tour and include discussion of mental illness, autopsy, and human remains. The historic building has no elevator; a first-floor route and video cover the second floor for visitors who cannot use stairs. The current entrance is on Kirkbride Way because the Vermont Street approach is closed.
